Yoga Sleeping / Yoga Nidra

We all know the state of deep sleeping! During the deep sleep, there are absolutely no images in mind! We have images in mind during dreaming or while we are awaken!

However, Yoga Nidra is the conscious deep sleep! Nidra means deep sleep! Yoga Nidra is a sleep-like state! During yoga nidra you remain waking state of consciousness  and gently focus the mind while you are allowing your thoughts, emotions and sensations. During this state you go past the dreaming state and go to deep sleep but you are remained awake. Yoga nidra / sleep must not be mix with hypnotic sleep! Hypnotic state is called "Yoga Tandra"!

The Yoga Nidra may include relaxation and it is a guided techniques of visualization as well as psychology of yoga, sleep and dream!  The practice of this relaxation intendes to reduce stress, anxiety and tension. It is also helpful to remove or reduce headache, sweating, abdominal and chest pain. While it is a state for relaxation, yogis also use it to purify the Samskaras, the deep impressions that are driving force behind Karma.
